The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science (RCEAS) at Lehigh University invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in civil/structural engineering to begin July 1, 2025. Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field by the date of employment. The appointment may be made at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Qualified senior candidates will be considered for tenure.

The successful candidate will be expected to do the following:

Develop a vigorous research program by pursuing external funding and supporting graduate research assistants, thereby upholding and advancing Lehigh's reputation as a prominent scholarly institution. Maintain a strong commitment to teaching students at all levels of the curriculum (undergraduate and graduate), while cultivating an inclusive and engaging learning environment. Actively contribute service within Lehigh at various levels within the department, college, and university. Pursue relevant academic or professional service opportunities beyond Lehigh such as editorial review boards, professional society leadership positions, national or international technical committees, or conference committees. Research focus areas for the successful candidate may include, but are not limited to, the design and evaluation of structural systems for resilience to natural and man-made hazards; the reduction of embodied carbon in the built environment; sustainable infrastructure and lifecycle assessment; or smart structures and infrastructure systems.

The successful candidate's research program will be expected to utilize the experimental facilities of the Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS) Engineering Research Center (https://atlss.lehigh.edu/). The ATLSS Center is an internationally recognized state-of-the-art facility for testing structural systems under a wide range of conditions, including dynamic loading, fatigue loading, thermal loading, soil-structure interaction, and fluid-structure interaction. In particular, the Center includes a Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) Experimental Facility (funded by the National Science Foundation), which focuses on multi-physics real-time cyber-physical structural systems simulation performed at large scale and in multi-directions.
