Job Description

This position is a member of the IT Shared Services team supporting THG and its companies. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of data security and protection for our clients and employees. As an IT Security Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in safeguarding our digital assets and contributing to the overall cybersecurity program of the organization.

Essential Functions

• Security Awareness: Contribute to the development and delivery of security awareness training and materials for employees. Assist in promoting a culture of security awareness across the organization.
• Security Tool Management: Gain exposure to various security tools and technologies used for monitoring, intrusion detection, and prevention. Assist in configuring, maintaining, and updating security tools to ensure optimal performance.
• Security Incident Response: Participate in security incident response activities, including monitoring and analyzing security alerts. Assist in investigating security incidents, identifying root causes, and recommending appropriate remediation actions.
• Vulnerability Assessment and Management: Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments on network systems, applications, and infrastructure. Collaborate with the IT security team to identify and prioritize vulnerabilities and assist in the development of mitigation strategies.
• Security Audits and Assessments: Support internal and external security audits and assessments by assisting in preparing documentation, evidence gathering, and remediation efforts.
• Research and Analysis: Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and vulnerabilities. Assist in conducting research and analysis to identify emerging security risks and potential solutions.

Education Qualifications

• Required High School or Equivalent
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree : Currently Sophomore or higher pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related fields.

Skills and Abilities

• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, principles, and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite software.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Requires a valid drivers license
• Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items and walk short distances.

The Heritage Group Internship Program provides hands-on, paid experiences in a corporate function or within one of our many operating companies. Interns can expect to network with other students and professionals, gain useful skills, receive mentoring, and make their own contributions to the organization. Additionally, interns can participate in our weekly hosted events focused on professional development, team building, and community service.

Intern pay is non-negotiable and is calculated based on current academic class standing $17/hour (Freshman) - $20/hour (Senior), etc.
