Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Under general supervision, the TRIO Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, and coordination of the projects' day to day operations as well as develop, implement, and evaluate all program services and activities. The Program Coordinator will work with program staff, college employees and community stakeholders in offering services to potential program participants.

This is a Grant Funded position.

Essential Duties Summary:

  • Serve as point of contact for students, campus faculty and staff, and other parties who either seek support or information about the TRIO Program.
  • Create, develop, and implement career- readiness workshops/ events / field trips, collegiate, scholarship, financial and leadership workshops virtually and in-person.
  • Create and implement strategic plan for student retention to meet critical grant objectives
  • Oversee the daily operations of the TRIO program, ensuring that all activities and resources are managed efficiently.
  • Attend TRIO staff meetings and meet regularly with Program Director to review program goals, activities, and priorities.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating educational program activities to all program participants.
  • Provides comprehensive academic, personal, career and financial aid counseling to each project participant.
  • Assesses and documents the academic and motivational needs of students selected for participation in program activities.
  • Plan and implement daily academic programming regarding preparation for graduate school including applications and providing guidance for undergraduate research projects.
  • Maintain resources for students through program offices that include, but are not limited to, academic tutoring, research presentations, graduate school preparation, financial literacy, academic advising, disciplinary resources and FAFSA preparation assistance.
  • Monitors and documents the academic progress of participants as they matriculate each semester.
  • Provide and inputs essential participant data for annual performance report
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

$55,038.89 - $70,174.59

Education:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree, preferred (M.A. or M.Ed.) in education, social work or education fields from an accredited college or university.

Required Licensing/Certification:

Valid Texas Driver's License preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • TRIO Department of Education, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • TRIO Blumen database
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
  • Academic advising and college, career, financial aid and economic literacy activities and services for low income and potential first-generation college youth.
  • Personal and career counseling
  • Barriers to postsecondary education faced by low income and potential first-generation college youth in target area.

Skill in:
  • Developing an Individual Academic Plan for High School or College students
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Multitasking and time management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, counseling, communication, organization and facilitation.
  • Both verbal and written communication.

Ability to:
  • Prepare detailed reports.
  • Work independently.
  • Work Saturdays and maintain flexible hours
Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years in the area of staff supervision and program development.
  • Minimum of three years' experience with Federal TRIO programs assisting disadvantage, low income and first-generation pre-college students.
  • Experience coordinating project programming and field experiences
  • Experience advising and assisting students with the college admissions and financial aid process
  • Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting Project Participants
  • Formal training and/or work experience promoting the completion of a rigorous secondary school program of study
  • Formal training and/or work experience increasing post-secondary enrollment rates and promoting college degree attainment rates for low-income and potential first-generation college students.

  • Prolonged standing and/or walking.
  • Handling light weight objects.
