General Description:

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the OCCC Advancement Program which includes Trustee relations, faculty and staff relations, donor relations, fundraising, grants, alumni outreach and development, donor campaign development and budgeting, team building/team member development and supervision, and all reporting and fiduciary responsibilities associated with a growing and thriving professional fundraising and the Advancement Program.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum (7) years' experience in major gift fundraising.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is light work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

This position requires the person to frequently move about the OCCC campus and offsite outreach locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Resource Development

(10) years' experience in major and/or gift fundraising at an institution of higher education

Professional Fundraising Certification. i.e. CFRE.

Required Training:

Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution

Job Duties (Position Specific):

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

Serves as the the College's Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of OCCC Foundation; works collaboratively with stakeholders.

Administers the legal responsibilities and best practices of nonprofit organizations; ensures proper policies and procedures are followed to ensure highest financial integrity and highest level of integrity; and complies with generally accepted fundraising and development standards and guidelines.

Builds Annual Development Plan working with President and key stakeholders; serves on the Executive Committee; works closely with the President in maintaining donor records in the donor management software, which includes correspondence to donors in response to gifts and donor reporting for development purposes; provides information and research; executes fundraising priorities as directed by the President; and works with the Office of the President to develop resources for College priorities and community outreach including banquets, galas, and events to bring the community to the campus.

Identifies, recruits, trains, and coordinates the activities of members of the Board of Trustees; and coaches and facilitates others on how to successfully engage donors and prospective donors.

Supervises gift processing, donor acknowledgement, and donor stewardship; manages a portfolio of donors; sets goals, creates strategic plans, and develops scorecard metrics for organization and team members; works collaboratively with external and internal resources and in support of Board volunteers and other advancement staff; reflects optimistic and positive attitude; and conveys sensitivity to needs of the donors.

Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle: initiates contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors; develops appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers; moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; makes solicitations when appropriate; maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adheres to the highest ethical standards; and demonstrates empathetic disposition and perseverance.

Works with College/Foundation on proper event planning, programming, marketing/branding, and outreach; manages a portfolio of primary prospects; builds pipeline strategies to build prospective donors and establish contacts; and ensures positive and purposeful prospect work is complementing efforts in donor relations.

Manages daily operations involving: fiduciary management of income and expenses; staff management including recruiting, hiring, and training; weekly staff meetings;inventor control; and maintaining all legal requirements of retaining status as 501c3 including licensure through Secretary of State and filing of tax documents.

Supervises staff who conduct administrative and financial functions of the Foundation; manages team and oversees staff's duties and responsibilities; coaches and facilitates on how to successfully engage donors and prospective donors (identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and oversee these individuals); and helps them to create a record of building donor relationships and closing gifts.

Serves as a resource for development/advancement staff, from identifying potential volunteer connections to implementing, facilitating, and supporting various meetings, programs, ancillary clubs, galas, and special events/functions.

Prepares for public speaking opportunities with multiple audiences; assists in key ancillary projects/programs which open doors and builds relationships; and creates presentations for the President as needed for timely communication, updates, and planning sessions.

Establishes best practices and coordinates endowment investments; maintains appropriate relationships with financial institutions and external service providers (accounting, audit, taxes, etc.); maintains accurate and complete financial records, contracts and works with an outside accounting firm to produce financial records, contracts with audit firm; produces electronic and paper records for over 300 requested documents of spending, gift processing, board records, process oversight, transparency, policy and procedures, and test work to validate records for audits; oversees all aspects of endowment investments, including contracting with outside investment advisor, submitting funds, requesting funds, reviewing investment options and reporting to donors on status of investments; and provides annual investment statements to all endowment investors and scholarship donors.

Provides oversight of comprehensive scholarship award system including soliciting of donations in support of scholarships, programs, and projects of the College; assesses fund balances and allotment of budget for scholarships each semester; and analyzes scholarship and endowment contracts to ensure alignment with donor intent, awarding of scholarship, and payment to bursar accounts.

Oversees process/funds for multiple organizations, departments, and academic divisions across campus; manages the deposit and spending of funds in accordance with guidelines, contracts, and agreements, including reporting to donors.

Oversees grants management including funding sources, establishing and maintaining relationships with local funders and foundations, writing and submission of grants, contracting with funders to meet specific goals, and oversight of grant-funded programs and subsequent reporting to grantors.

Oversees the management of the Alumni Association, its funding and allocation of resources, and annual event to honor alumni.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
