The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeks exceptional early-career clinician-scientists to apply for a temporary (12 months) full-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Division of Periodontology. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join an active academic program and contribute to the mission of the College and the Division of Periodontology through the pursuit of research, teaching, and service. Applicants with expertise in clinical studies, novel diagnostic imaging, digital technology implementation, translational clinical trials, and wound healing are preferred and especially encouraged to apply. The primary responsibilities of this position will be the scholarly pursuit of research and funding opportunities, with other duties including support of the overall mission of the division through teaching, service, and contribution to the college's continuing education programs.

The successful candidate will assist in collecting clinical data from research projects and performing didactic as well as clinical teaching. Clinical Research studies people, data, or tissue samples to understand health and disease. Clinical Research helps find new and better ways to detect, diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. Types of clinical research include observational and interventional clinical studies. Teaching may include didactic as well as clinical instructions in predoctoral classroom and clinics.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Qualified candidates must have a DDS/DMD and/or equivalent degree. Candidates also must be eligible for a full or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board. Information on state dental licensure is available at the Ohio State Dental Board website.

Candidates demonstrating a track record of or a great potential for receiving fundings will be given preference.

Desired: A certificate of advanced education in periodontics from a CODA-accredited or international program and an MS/or PhD degree.

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. Initiated in 1949, the postdoctoral program in advanced periodontics at Ohio State has always been a combination of clinical training with graduate education.
