The Position:
This is a great opportunity for individuals who are safety conscious and have a pleasant, outgoing attitude who want to excel in a fulfillment center environment. This is a physically demanding position, responsible for shipping and receiving procedures in our aftermarket fulfillment center. Responsible for ensuring that the paperwork for all shipments leaving the fulfillment center is complete and accurate. Assist in maintaining warehouse according to established 5s standards.
Compensation:
$18 - $24 per hour DOE
Key Performance Areas
Drives Business Results -
- Load and unload trucks, move material within the facility and from the loading platform by carrying, pushing, rolling or operating hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, or other material handling equipment
- Compare packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy of shipments.
- Unpack, examine and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Inspect and process customer returns of inventory
- Sort, count, package, label, unpack and log inventory of shipped and received materials.
- Prepare packing slips; check items to be shipped against work orders to ensure that quantities, destination and routing are correct. (Accuracy is a must!)
- Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
- Assemble crates/packages as required according to the customer order and the carrier ensuring the material is protected from damage during shipment.
- Bind containers with tape, shrink wrap, strapping or other available material and ensures paperwork is accurate and visible.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Occasionally count parts for inventory accuracy
Job Requirements Experience and Education: - Experience: 1-year factory related experience in shipping/receiving or inventory related position preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication.
- Technology: General knowledge of MS Outlook, ability to use iPad, UPS WorldShip Software, Canada/International Shipping, and ability to learn basic principles of our ERP system.
Other Requirements:
- Experience operating forklift preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of FIFO and the ability to execute.
- Current, valid driver's license.
Supervisory Responsibility - This position has no direct reports.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Travel - No travel is expected for this position.
Work Environment - The position operates in a standard manufacturing environment using standard equipment such as computers, iPads, phones, copiers, jib cranes, pneumatic staplers, tape dispensers, box cutters, etc. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts.
Physical Requirements - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Warehouse Clerk position to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Work overtime beyond 40 hours/week dependent on varying Business needs.
- Operate Heavy Equipment, Forklifts, Trucks and Overhead Cranes
- Stand and walk on a concrete surface for extended periods (approx. 3 hours/each) throughout a standard work shift.
- Ascend and descend work platform stairs to access installations at varying heights. Ascend and descend vertical steps of heavy equipment to access Operator's cab.
- Reach overhead as well as bend, crouch and kneel to floor level to access inventory. Assume awkward positions for restricted-access inventory.
- Regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs. loads from floor level to chest level. Push/pull items exerting loads up to 50 lbs.
